Tastemaker and Culinary Consultant Karine Bakhoum is a visionary of hospitality expertise, public relations and networking.


Stemming from an indulgent passion for food at the young age of three, Bakhoum wasted no time diving into the business. As a teenager, she used her savvy nature to create and sell her own “All Natural, Homemade Honey Nut Bran Muffins” to health food stores on the Upper East Side in Manhattan, a mere prelude to her future career. Her exposure to a diverse collection of flavors and cultures soon put her on the path to success as a food expert, restaurant consultant, and brand ambassador.

In 1993, Bakhoum founded KB Network News, a leading hospitality consulting and public relations firm in New York City. Her remarkable palate, extensive knowledge of food, and unmatched reputation quickly earned her a spot as a frequent judge on Food Network’s Iron Chef America, for which she is now the female judge with the most appearances leading to her moniker The Iron Palate™. In 2007, KB’s venerable palate was the first ever to be insured by Lloyd’s of London for $1,000,000 making her also known as The Million Dollar Palate.

Over the course of her twenty-five-plus-year career, Bakhoum has worked with a number of the world’s top chefs including but not limited to Bobby Flay, Michael White, Alain Ducasse, Todd English, Gari Masatoshi Sugio, Marc Forgione and Geoffrey Zakarian, as well as leading hotelier Steve Wynn and restaurateurs Jeffery Chodorow (China Grill), Stephen Hanson (BR Guest), Jonathan Segal (The One Group) and John Meadows (LDV Hospitality).

A formidable cook herself, she has entertained many luminaries of the culinary world, as well as earned her own recipes a spot in Costco’s Home Cooking Cookbooks. Her enthusiastic nature, creative vision, and expertise earned KB an invitation to appear on the finale of Food Network’s Worst Cooks in America (2010), as well as on Cooking Channel’s Unique Eats, The Best Thing I ever Ate and Food Network’s 24 Hour Restaurant Battle.

In May 2011, Bakhoum was commissioned for an Iron Palate Tour to Moscow, Russia hosted by Maison Dellos, one of the leading restaurant groups in Russia and has performed Culinary Taste Evaluations in several other countries including Costa Rica, Morocco, France and Italy as well as in several US states.

Her contagious enthusiasm spills over to her dedicated team and KB prides herself in the high level of personal service and creativity she and her results oriented team provide.

Based in NYC and Southampton, she has worked with clients including Le Bilboquet; Tutto Il Giorno (Southampton, Sag Harbor, Tribeca); LT Burger in Sag Harbor; Bay Kitchen Bar in East Hampton; 21 Club; Armani Restaurant; Dan’s Taste of Summer culinary events; and Stone Creek Inn in East Quogue.

Most recently, she was retained by the pre-eminent DuPont Circle Hotel in Washington, D.C. where she created and launched several culinary brands, including Pembroke Restaurant, which received a 2-1/2 Star Review from The Washington Post after being open only 6 weeks, Doyle Bar, champagne brunch, their in-room dining and more.
